Vantact Network Diagnostics Tool

Introduction

The Vantact Network Diagnostics Tool is a powerful application designed to help you diagnose network issues such as jitter, packet loss, DNS resolution problems, and multiple DHCP servers on your local network. This guide will walk you through the steps to download, run, and interpret the results from the tool.

Download and Setup

  1. Download the Tool:

    • Inside the download folder, you will find the application file VantactNetworkDiagnostics.exe.

Running the Diagnostics Tool

  1. Launch the Application:

    • Double-click on VantactNetworkDiagnostics.exe to start the tool. You should see a console window open with the message:
      Vantact Network Diagnostics Started... This test should take roughly 5 minutes. Please do not close the console window.
  2. Wait for the Diagnostics to Complete:

    • The tool will perform several network tests, including:
      • Ping test for jitter and packet loss.
      • Traceroute to analyze network paths.
      • Checking all local LAN IP addresses.
      • Determining the WAN IP address.
      • DNS resolution tests.
      • Checking for multiple DHCP servers on the network.
    • The tests will take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Progress will be displayed in the console window.
  3. View the Results:

    • Once the diagnostics are complete, the console window will display a message:
      Diagnostics completed. A new file has been generated and should be sent to support@vantact.com
      Press any key to open the folder and close the application...
    • Press any key to open the folder containing the results file.

Interpreting the Results

  1. Locate the Results File:

    • The results file is named NetworkDiagnosticsResult.txt and is located in the same folder as the application.
  2. Review the Results:

    • Open NetworkDiagnosticsResult.txt with any text editor (e.g., Notepad). The file contains detailed information about the network diagnostics performed, including:
      • Ping results for jitter and packet loss.
      • Traceroute output.
      • List of all local LAN IP addresses.
      • WAN IP address.
      • DNS resolution results.
      • Information about multiple DHCP servers detected on the network.
  3. Send the Results:

    • If you need further assistance, please email the results file to support@vantact.com for a detailed analysis by our support team.
