To transfer a call directly to another user's voicemail, the systems administrator must first enable a direct dial prefix. The default prefix is “8”.
How to Transfer a Call to Voicemail:
Put the Call on Hold:
- Press the Hold button on your telephone keypad.
Initiate the Transfer:
- Press the Transfer key on your phone. If your phone does not have a Transfer button, dial *77 to transfer the call.
Enter the Voicemail Prefix and Extension:
- Enter the mailbox prefix number (default is 8).
- Enter the recipient’s extension number.
The caller will be directly transferred to the recipient’s voicemail without hearing any ringing, as the voicemail timeout is bypassed.
Direct Voicemail Access:
- To call someone’s mailbox directly without involving an outside caller, dial 8 followed by the extension number (e.g., 8123).
