Snom Phone Stuck on Sending DHCP Requests

When your Snom phone is stuck on "Sending DHCP Requests," it indicates that the phone is unable to obtain an IP address from your router. Here are steps to resolve this issue:

1. Verify Network Connection:

  • Ensure the Ethernet cable is connected to the NET port on the back of the Snom phone. Connecting it to the PC port will not work.

2. Check DHCP Server:

  • DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is typically provided by your router to assign IP addresses to devices like phones and computers.
  • Possible Issues:
    • Exhausted IP Addresses: Your router may have run out of available IP addresses in its pool. Consider adjusting the subnet to increase the number of available addresses or lowering the lease time so old IPs expire more quickly.
    • Router Reboot: Restart your router by unplugging it for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. This can resolve issues caused by router malfunctions, especially during periods of high traffic.

3. Cable Check:

  • Ensure the Ethernet cable running to the Snom phone is not defective. If in doubt, try replacing it with a known-working cable.

4. Manual IP Assignment:

  • If you're not using a DHCP server and instead assign IP addresses manually:
    • Press the X (Cancel) key multiple times to exit the DHCP request screen.
    • Configure static IP settings by pressing the configuration button and entering the appropriate network details manually.

5. Check Network Topology:

  • If your phone is connected through a switch, ensure the switch itself is connected to the router. A switch must be connected to the router to provide IP addresses to devices connected through it.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue of your Snom phone being stuck on "Sending DHCP Requests." If problems persist, please contact our support team for further assistance.
