How to Reset Poly & Polycom Phones to Factory Settings


If you know the Administrator PIN:

  1. Press "Menu" on your Polycom phone.
  2. Navigate to "Settings" --> "Advanced". You will be prompted for a password.
  3. Enter your Administrator PIN.
  4. Select "Admin Settings".
  5. Scroll down to "Reset to Default".
  6. From the Reset to Defaults menu, navigate to "Reset to Factory".

If you DO NOT know the Administrator PIN:

  1. Boot Phone: Power down the phone by unplugging it and counting to 10 before plugging it back in.
  2. Access Setup Mode: Upon startup, press the Cancel button after the Polycom logo disappears.
  3. Enter Password: Press the setup button, and enter the MAC address (serial number) of the phone as the password.
    • Write down the numeric keypad equivalent of each character in the MAC address (e.g., for "0004f212ab34", enter "000433321222234").
  4. Press OK to confirm.

Detailed Explanation on how to force a factory reset:

  • For SoundPoint IP 320, 321, 330, 331, 335, 430, and 450: Press and hold the 1, 3, 5, and 7 keys simultaneously.
  • For SoundPoint IP 301, 501, 550, 600, 601, and 650: Press and hold the 4, 6, 8, and * keys simultaneously.
  • For SoundStation IP 4000, 500, and 6000: Press and hold the 6, 8, and * keys simultaneously.
  • For VVX-Series phones: Press and hold the 1, 3, 5 keys simultaneously during the Updater process until the password prompt appears.
  1. Continue holding the keys until prompted to enter the admin password.
  2. Enter the numerical equivalent of the MAC address (not case-sensitive).
    • Use the # key or mode button (on VVX-series) to switch between alpha and numeric entry.
  3. Log in with the default admin password "456" to configure your phone.
