Phone Connectivity Issues - Offline Phone, Phone Won't Turn On

Determine the Extent of the Problem

Common Symptoms: Cannot make calls, phones do not dial out, offline or exclamation mark icon on the phone screen.

Single Phone Issue:

1. Network Cable Connection:

  • Ensure the Ethernet (network) cable is securely connected to the phone's LAN/Internet port.

2. Power Check:

  • Confirm the phone is powered on. Check for activity on the display screen.
    • If the phone is off, ensure:
      • The power supply is plugged into the outlet.
      • If using Power over Ethernet (PoE), verify the cable connection.

3. Location Swap:

  • Temporarily relocate the phone to a different location and switch cables with a working phone to rule out location-based issues.

If All Phones Are Offline:

1. Internet Connectivity:

  • Check if other devices on your network have internet access.
    • If not, restart your modem/router:
      • Unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
      • Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) if the issue persists.

2. Phone Display Check:

  • Observe phone screens and button lights for any signs of activity.
    • If phones seem inactive:
      • Reboot by unplugging their power source, waiting for 30 seconds, then re-plugging.
      • If using a PoE switch, reboot it and check for flashing activity/link LEDs.

3. Network Changes:

  • Have there been recent changes to your network setup (e.g., new routers, switches)?
    • If yes, consider reverting to the previous setup temporarily.
    • Assess recent changes for any impact on phone connectivity.
