How to Change an Extension Name

Method 1: Changing the Extension Name via the Billing Portal (Recommended)

This is the simplest method for changing an extension name without needing advanced system access.

Step 1: Access the Billing Portal

  1. Open your web browser and go to https://portal.vantact.com.
  2. Enter your Username (this is your email address, which you use to receive invoices).

Step 2: Reset Your Password (if needed)

  1. If you don’t know your password or it was system-generated, click on "Reset My Password".
  2. Enter your email address (the one associated with your account) when prompted.
  3. Check your email for a password reset link and follow the instructions to reset your password.

    Note: Ensure your email is entered correctly in the system to receive the reset link.

Step 3: Change the Extension Name

  1. Once logged in, navigate to the Extensions section.
  2. Select the extension you wish to modify.
  3. Update the First Name, Last Name, and/or Position in the respective fields.
  4. Click Save to apply the changes.

Your updates will automatically sync with the PBX system after the next phone reboot.



Method 2: Changing the Extension Name via the PBX System (For Advanced Users)

For advanced users or administrators with PBX access, you can change the extension name directly through the PBX system.

Note: Admin access is required. If you don’t have this access, you can request it by emailing billing@vantact.com or calling (416) 342-1690, option 3 for billing.

Step 1: Log in to the PBX System

  1. Open a web browser (preferably Google Chrome).
  2. Go to your system’s address.
  3. Enter your login credentials.

Step 2: Access the Extensions Menu

  1. In the top left corner, go to Accounts > Extensions.
  2. Find the desired extension in the list and click on its number.

Step 3: Edit the Extension Name

  1. Under the General tab, scroll down to the Account Profile section.
  2. Update the First Name, Last Name, and/or Position.

Step 4: Save Changes

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click SAVE.
  2. The changes will update on the system after the next phone reboot.
