Provisioning a phone to your PBX can be simplified with Easy Phone Provisioning. This method links a phone's MAC address to an extension and configures the phone to connect to the PBX automatically. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Login to Your PBX
- Use your credentials to log into the PBX system. If you are unsure of your login details, please contact your account representative.
2. Filter Accounts by Extensions
- On the left-hand side of the interface, find and select the option to filter accounts by extensions.
3. Select an Extension
- Click on the extension to which you want to attach a MAC address.
4. Access the Registration or Provisioning Tab
- Navigate to the "Registration" or "Provisioning" sub-tab.
5. Enter the MAC Address
- Input the MAC address of the phone in the provided field. Do not include spaces or colons. Note that different phone manufacturers have specific MAC address ranges (e.g., Snom phones often start with 0004, and Grandstream phones start with 000B).
6. Return to the Extensions Page
- Go back to the main Extensions page.
7. Enable Provisioning for the Extension
- Check the box next to the extension you wish to enable provisioning for.
8. Open Accounts for MAC-Based Provisioning
- Scroll to the bottom right-hand side of the page and click on "More Actions."
- Select "Open Accounts for MAC based provisioning" from the dropdown menu. Confirm the action in the pop-up that appears.
9. Reboot the Phone
- Reboot the phone. Assuming the phone is set to receive configuration from the PBX, it will automatically configure itself for the selected extension without further input.
Note: Some phone models support automatic provisioning. This advanced feature is typically set up by your account representative for compatible phone models.
If all steps are followed correctly, the phone should automatically program itself after rebooting, allowing you to use it within minutes. For additional support or questions, please contact your account representative.
