How to disable SIP ALG on Hitron or Rogers Modem Router Gateway? CGN3 CGN4 CGN3acsmr

You can call your provider such as Rogers and request they "Disable SIP ALGs". They can do it remotely.

OR

Login into your router

  1. Open your browser such as Chrome or Edge, and enter the address 192.168.1.1
  2. When requested, enter your password. 
  3. Default username and password - 
    username: cusadmin
    password: password or [your wifi password]

  4. Click on the Basic tab
  5. Click on Gateway Function
  6. Disable SIP ALG
  7. Click on Save Changes
  8. Reboot your router

OR

If you want to use your own router such as Asus, Linksys, Ubiquiti you will need to put the Rogers router in bridge mode. This means that you will no longer use the routing functionality of the Rogers gateway, and will only use it as a basic modem. Letting your 3rd party router do the routing/wifi actions. 

You can call your provider such as Rogers and request that they put the router in Bridge Mode. They can do it remotely for you.

If you would like to do it yourself.

  1. Open your browser such as Chrome or Edge, and enter the address 192.168.1.1
  2. Make sure your connected to port 1 using an ehternet cable. Do not do this over wireless.
  3. When requested, enter your password. 
  4. Default username and password - 
    username: csadmin
    password: password or [your wifi password]

  5. Click on the Basic tab
  6. Click on Gateway Function
  7. Disable Residential Gateway Function
  8. Click on Save Changes
  9. Reboot your router
